What We Believe.

Pillars Church accepts the entire Bible as God's word written to mankind. It is the revealed will of God and the all-sufficient rule of faith and practice for believers. As a church, we hold certain beliefs with a closed hand and others with an open hand. In the closed hand are the essential truths of the Christian faith—foundational doctrines that define what it means to follow Jesus. In the open hand are secondary matters where faithful Christians throughout history have sometimes differed. These are important, but they are not reasons for division. At Pillars, we seek to walk in humility, love, and grace on open-handed issues, always keeping the gospel of Jesus Christ at the center.

  • We believe the Bible to be true and the highest authority in the life of every believer. It was written by human authors under God's divine inspiration. Therefore, the Bible is the inspired, infallible, and inerrant Word of God. It is God's revelation to man and the everlasting rule of faith and conduct.

  • We believe there is one God who is the Creator and the Ruler of the universe. He eternally exists in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. They are co-eternal, co-existent, and co-equal 

    (Gen. 1:1, Matt. 28:19, Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 48:16; Matthew 3:16). 

  • God the Father is the eternal, all-powerful, all-knowing Creator of heaven and earth. He is holy and just, yet merciful and compassionate, abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness. He is the source of all life, the giver of every good gift, and the One who holds all things together by His power. As a perfect Father, He loves His children, hears their prayers, provides for their needs, and disciplines them for their good.

  • We believe that Jesus is fully God and fully man and is the only way that those who are far from God can enter into a right relationship with God. He was the one perfect sacrifice that paid the complete price for all sin. Jesus defeated death through His resurrection so that we could have new life in Him.

  • Jesus sent the Holy Spirit to be our helper and comforter. He is the witness inside us, assuring us of our relationship with Christ. He convicts people of sin, God’s righteousness, and the judgment to come. He gives us gifts that will, in turn, help the body of Christ. He helps guide us into all truth so that we can be more like Christ. 

    All believers are entitled to and should seek the promise of the Father, the Baptism in the Holy Spirit. With it comes the power to live for Christ, to serve others, and to use spiritual gifts. This experience is distinct from and subsequent to salvation.

  • Because all mankind has sinned and fallen short of God’s standard, God sent His Son to die on the cross to pay the price for our sin. It is only through the shed blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection that we can have a right relationship with God. Salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone in Christ alone. When faith is genuine, it will be seen in a life that pursues righteousness and holiness, becoming more like Christ.

  • Scripture teaches that humanity was created in the image of God to live in fellowship with Him. Through sin, we became separated from God, but Jesus gave His life to restore us into a right relationship with Him. Every person is uniquely created by God, worthy of love and respect, and designed with a divine purpose.

  • The Church is a group of believers unified through faith in Christ. Its purpose is to bring the Gospel of Jesus to the world. It is a people committed to the teachings of Christ and an obedient lifestyle to Christ. The Church works together in love and unity, striving for the ultimate purpose of glorifying Christ.

  • God created humanity to exist forever. Every person will spend eternity either separated from God because of sin or united with Him through salvation in Christ. Those who die in their sins without Christ are eternally lost in the lake of fire—a place originally prepared for the devil and his angels. This judgment is final. But for those who are in Christ, eternity means everlasting joy in the presence of God. Heaven is a place of perfect peace, restored creation, and unbroken fellowship with our Savior. Scripture makes clear that the terms eternal and everlasting describe both the unending punishment of the lost and the unending joy of the redeemed.

  • We believe in the imminent, personal, and visible return of Jesus Christ. When He comes again, believers who have died will be reunited with those who are alive in Him. This is the hope of every Christian and a call to live in holiness and faithful service.

  • God created humanity in two sexes, male and female, and established marriage as a sacred covenant between them. According to Scripture, marriage is the lifelong union of one biological man and one biological woman. We affirm purity and self-control for single believers, faithfulness within marriage, and the holiness of the marital bond. Any sexual relationship outside this design, including same-sex relationships, falls outside of God’s plan.
