Prayer and Fasting.

In the Sermon on the Mount, in Matthew 6, Jesus teaches on prayer and fasting. In that passage, He says the phrase “when you…” as He taught on prayer and fasting. The assumption of Jesus is that prayer and fasting were EXPECTED for His followers. So join us September 1-10 as we spend ten days focusing on Jesus as we get ready for our Grand Opening at the end of the month.

Creating a Lifestyle of Prayer.

Mark 1:35 ESV And rising very early in the morning, while it was still dark, he departed and went out to a desolate place, and there he prayed.

#1 Choose a Time

Jesus got up early in the morning to spend time with His Heavenly Father. Make a daily appointment with God, whether it’s first thing in the morning, at lunch, or in the evening, and faithfully keep it.

#2 Choose a Place

Jesus had a specific place He went to pray. Having a designated place to pray helps us remove distractions and frees us to worship and pray out loud.

#3 Choose a Plan or Model

When Jesus taught His disciples how to pray, He gave them a prayer outline. We call it “The Lord’s Prayer.” This page and other things we’ll post this week are meant to give you a plan and strategy for prayer.
